DJ MIKE VITTI

A DJ since the age of 14, Mike’s love of all things connected to music began in earnest in the  80’s when he moved to Magalluf to work at Tokio Joes. The lure of playing records in the sunshine coupled with all of the trappings that went with it was far too tempting an opportunity for an 18-year-old to turn down so he left his native North Wales and his emersion into music industry began in earnest.

Mike Vitti’s radio career began in 1987 hosting the first ever dance show on Lancashire’s Red Rose Radio (now Rock FM), followed by his first professional contract hosting the evening shows at Rock FM and the late shows at Radio Aire in Leeds.

Following a highly successful five year stint as the programme director at Jazz FM where record audiences were recorded (source RAJAR), Mike curated the Funky Sensation brand to include a Saturday night radio show; live events at London’s prestigious Ronnie Scott’s and a series of hugely popular CDs, Mike left Jazz FM to develop his brand further and joined Gordon Mac (founder of Kiss FM) at London’s Mi-Soul Radio, where the now rebranded Funky Nation is even bigger, better and funkier. The club nights at Ronnie Scott’s are even stronger and more popular than ever too and you can witness that for yourselves every Saturday night where the residency has now been running for twelve years. In addition to being Ronnie Scott’s resident DJ, Mike is also the guy who books all of the DJs at the club both upstairs and downstairs in the main room.

In addition; Mike hosts the Mid-Morning Show on Mi-Soul Radio London and can also be head late at night on the local BBC stations in the West of England.

He has met and had the opportunities to interview some of the biggest names in world music including: George Benson where his interview was aired prior to a George Benson livestream on YouTube and Facebook from Ronnie Scott’s to more than 300,000 viewers on July 4th 2017.

Mike has also interviewed: Nile Rodgers, Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Bootsy Collins, Gregory Porter, Will Downing, Snoop Dogg, Roy Ayers, Ne-Yo, the late Bobby Womack and Isaac Hayes, the sadly departed Teena Marie and countless others too numerous to mention.

An in demand radio presenter, DJ and promoter Mike’s events across London and the UK are hugely successful and he can be seen regularly at Funky Nation at Upstairs Ronnie Scott’s, in Ibiza and Europe across the summer months, at the Mi-Soul club nights in Brighton, the Ministry of Sound and beyond. The Luxury Soul Weekenders in Blackpool, the Margate Soul Festival, major festivals.
